Yes, the black rocks in the foreground are lava. These hills were built from one of the many eruptions in this area of the state. Some of the lava rocks are covered with lichens.
Stumbled on this absolute beast of a waterfall in Yellowstone! Roaring water, misty vibes, and the kind of scenery that makes you forget your phone has notifications. 10/10 would chase again.
