kommen die ölkäfer raus und krabbeln vor allem auf den wegen gut sichtbar herum, verlassen sich offenbar ganz auf ihre giftigkeit

nahaufnahme eines eigentlich schwarzen, aber dabei auffällig metallisch blau schillernd glänzenden insekts, das über mit zerfallenden blättern vom letzten herbst und alten holzstückchen bedeckten waldboden krabbelt. es ist ein käfer, hat aber eher die körperform einer ameise mit übergroßem hinterleib. die 3 körperteile kopf, thorax und hinterleib sind sehr stark voneinander abgegrenzt und das mittelteil, der thorax, ist sehr klein, kleiner als der ziemlich runde kopf, sieht dadurch aus wie ein hals. der hinterleib ist sichtbar aufgebläht, die kurzen deckflügel bedecken nicht einmal ein viertel davon und die übergänge zwischen den hinterleibssegmenten sind matt und sehen weich aus, ganz anders als die metallisch glänzenden und hart aussehenden mittleren bereiche

Purely by chance I came across a wren building its tiny nest in a tree covered by ivy. It was incredibly busy, constantly gathering moss and other things to make it cozy.
Absolutely wonderful experience, guess I'll need to visit more often in the future.

Lovely run up to Loch Earn and on to Killin.
The mirror man is back on the shores of the loch, he was removed for a few years - not sure why..
Sadly it was a grey day else he would have shone and looked even more alien like.

After a heavy rain, the area transformed into a huge puddle that looked impassable without wading
But someone had placed stepping stones, so we could cross easily
Only some people seemed to have went further, so we had a nice and quiet time
