@fasnix @debacle @icaria36 @signalapp I watch this with worry, and Signal is certainly one messenger I can easily do without, after I've asked the little number of contacts to use something like Delta Chat instead. Or Threema, which is based in Switzerland. But Delta Chat, with its current on-boarding, has a much lower barrier of entry for non-tech users, and is very transparent with what it's doing. Development also happens in the EU.
